Library usage data

Library usage data for the State Library of Victoria has been provided for Libraryhack 2011.  In this example, tag clouds are generated based on the first 5,000 terms of each data set.

Tag clouds give an indicative view of the subject matter.  Tag clouds can be generated via tagcrowd.com

Search engine terms

These are the search terms used to locate the SLV website as recorded by Google Analytics.  To get a better idea of the reference query it would be more useful to analyse the

Catalogue search terms give us an idea about the reference interests of our website users.

Catalogue item requests

These are the actual requests for collection items.  The data is simply the title field.  Terms such as “edited” and “translated” do not tell us much about the subject matter.
